Attorney Paul M. Brent
Paul M. Brent is a 1983 Cum Laude graduate of the California State University at Northridge. Thereafter Mr. Brent attended Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in June of 1986, and being admitted to the California Bar in December of 1986. Mr. Brent has been a partner at Steinberg, Nutter & Brent for over 25 years.
Over that time, as a result of his extensive bankruptcy practice on behalf of both debtors and creditors, Mr. Brent has been “hands on” involved in the reorganization of numerous companies and individuals (through both formal and informal proceedings) as well as resolving, either through litigation and/or negotiation, billions of dollars of claims.
During the same period, in addition to being named to the prestigious list of Super Lawyers in 2007, Mr. Brent has also been a member of the Bar and Bench Committee for revisions to a number of editions of the Local Rules of practice for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, while practicing throughout Southern California, including the Southern and Central District. Mr. Brent has also successfully argued matters before the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit as well as before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Concurrent with his bankruptcy practice Mr. Brent has undertaken first chair duties at trials before the Superior Court (as well as bankruptcy court and federal court matters) and been engaged in all manner of motion practice as well as successfully appearing before State Court of Appeals.
While well versed in all manner of litigation tactics Mr. Brent has also been involved in numerous business and transactional matters involving the sale and transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars of real and personal property assets including but not limited to aircraft; shopping malls; and, copious amounts of real and personal property.
During this time Mr. Brent has also devoted his time to numerous charitable organizations including Foster Care Counts, Food Forward and the Book Foundation as well as volunteering as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles and Ventura Superior Court systems.
As a 48 year plus resident of California Mr. Brent enjoys what the SoCal lifestyle brings as a musician, martial artist, avid mountain bike rider and animal lover and resides with his menagerie of people and animals in the hills of Old Agoura, CA.
